Abstract:Objective: To evaluate the therapeutic effect of Piweiping capsule (PWPC) in treating patients with metaplasia of gastric mucosa and explore its mechanism.Method: One hundred and forty-three patients were diagnosed as chronic superficial atrophic gastritis of gastric antrum or with metaplasia by means of gastroscopic observation with pathological biopsy examination. They were divided into 4 types (type I - IV) according to Syndrome Differentiation of traditional Chinese medicine, and each type was subdivided according to treatment into 2 groups, 75 in the PWPC group and 68 in the Sanjiu Weitai (
) group. Patients of PWPC group were in accordance with the type to which they belong treated with PWPC I, II, HI, IV respectively, while patients of SJWT group were all treated with SJWT. After 3 - 6 months of treatment, the clinical effect, pathological examination of gastric mucosa and some other parameters were observed. Results: The improvements of gastric mucosa cyclic adenosing monophosphate (cAMP), deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA),3H-thymopyrimidine nucleoside and lymphocyte transformation of the treatment group were all superior to those of SJWT group,P < 0.05-0.001. In the PWPC group, the curative rate and total effective rate on symptom were 49.3 % and 92.0% respectively, and the curative rate and total effective rate on intestinal metaplasia were 45.3 % and 62.7%. As for the SJWT group, they were 29.4%, 67.6%, 10.3% and 29.4% respectively. The difference between the two groups was significant,P < 0.001. Conclusion: PWPC could reverse the intestinal metaplasia through improving the gastric cAMP, DNA and strengthening the cellular immunity and the effect would be enhanced when the treatment was based on Syndrome Differentiation.

Abstract:Objective: To evaluate the effect of garlicin in treating acute cerebral infarction. Methods: One hundred and one patients of acute cerebral infarction diagnosed by CT were treated with garlicin (garlicin group) and compared with another group of 53 patients treated with ligustrazine (control group). The neurologic deficiency score and neurologic function score were used for evaluation of effect. Results: The effective rates of garlicin and ligustrazine were 89. 36% and 84. 85% respectively. The improvement scores of neurologic function were 18.46±10.69 and 11.94 ± 6.79 respectively. The difference between the two groups was significant. Before treatment the serum level of MDA in the garlicin group was 6.015 ±1.26 nmol/ml, and it decreased to 4. 87 ± 1.16 nmol/ml after treatment, the change being more significant than that of the control group (from 6.02 ±0.73 nmol/ml to 6.47 ±1.04 nmol/ml). The rheological parameters and cerebral blood flow were also improved after garlicin treatment. Conclusion: Garlicin could increase the perfusion flow of brain, improve the microcirculation, and scavenge free radicals so as to relieve the ischemia and reperfusion injury of the brain.
Abstract:Objective: To study the relationship between the circadian rhythm of Yin and Yang Syndrome on essential hypertension. Methods: The noninvasive ambulatory blood pressure monitoring was used in the clinical evaluation of 84 hypertensive inpatients. Results: The profile of ambulatory blood pressure in traditional Chinese medicine is characterized by the usual nocturnal decline in blood pressure, as well as by a prominent secondary fall in the early afternoon. The blood pressure to be highest is at Chen (
, 8:00am) on excess of Yang Syndrome and at You (
, 17:00 pm) on deficiency of Yin Syndrome, the lowest is at Zi (
, 0:00 am) and Wei (tic, 11:00am). The inverse circadian blood pressure is discovered in spontaneously hypertension rats (SHR).Conclusion: The pathogenesis of hypertension is due to the excessive Yang that is caused by incoordination between Yin and Yang. The TCM pattern differentiation of hypertension can be identified by Yin and Yang.
Abstract:Objective: To investigate the effects of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine in treating infantile protracted chronic pneumonia (IPCP).Methods: One hundred patients of IPCP were divided equally into two groups, the TCM-WM group treated with Maqin Qizhu Decoction combining with antibiotics and the control group treated with antibiotics alone. Efficacy of the two groups was compared after 1 course (15 days) of treatment. Results: The total effective rate of the TCM-WM group was better than that of the control group. Moreover, the days needed in curing coughing, dyspnea, rales and X-ray shadow absorption of the former were fewer than those of the latter. Conclusion: The integrated TCM-WM therapy in treating IPCP could both inhibit the pathogens effectively and improve the humoral immunity and resistant ability of organism.

Abstract:Objective: To observe the effect of treatment of Mailuoning Injection (MI) for pregnancy induced hypertension (PIH).Methods: Forty six PIH patients in the treated group were treated with intravenous dripping of MI and 40 patients in the control group treated with intravenous dripping of 25% magnesium sulfas. Results: Headache and edema were ameliorated significantly in the MI treated group in comparison with the control (P < 0.05). Both methods could the decrease levels of mean arterial pressure, improve hemorheologic change, and lower the hematocrit, but the effects of the former was better than those of the latter. No difference was found in albuminuria, delivery pattern, postpartum bleeding and neonatal Apgar Score between the two groups. Conclusion: MI could prevent the progress of pathological process of the PIH. The therapeutic mechanism of MI might be relevant to the dilatation of the arteriospasm, improvement of the abnormal microcirculation and hemorheologic character of the patients.
Abstract:Objective: To find an effective treatment of oviduct pregnancy. Methods: One hundred and fifteen patients of oviduct pregnancy were treated by injecting trichosanthin in cervix. Results: One week after injection, 95.5% of the treated patients had their HCG turned to negative. Symptoms such as painful abdominal distention, and signs such as pelvic hydrops and vaginal bleeding, were also relieved obviously in most of the cases. Conclusion: Trichosanthin injection may be an effective treatment for oviduct pregnancy, but further improvement in its preparation, and method of medication and dosage are necessary.
Abstract:Objective: To explore mechanism of the effect of Fuzheng Huayu Decoction on Ito cell proliferation and collagen synthesis. Methods: Biological effects of the drug serum taken from rats fed with Fuzheng Huayu decoction (FZHYD) on cell proliferation and collagen synthesis of Ito cell line were observed. Serum collected from rats at various times (1, 2 or 3 hours) after animals were fed with FZHYD once (It) or twice (2t, 2nd time repeated with the same dose), was incubated with Ito cell. Results: The lt-2h serum in 0. 46 g/kg FZHYD group, it seems to prevent cell proliferation, but had no significant difference. While all 2t drug serum could inhibit cell proliferation. The 2t-lh drug serum had no obvious effects on Ito cell morphology, but could improve cell viability, its effect on cell proliferation was dose and serum concentration dependent. Also the 2t-lh drug serum in all doses could inhibit Ito cells both intracellular and extracellular collagen production, the drug serum of 0.46 g/kg group had inhibitory effect in serum concentration dependent manner and similar effect as colchicine. Conclusion: Inhibition of Ito cells proliferation and collagen synthesis is perhaps one of main mechanism of FZHYD in antifibrotic action.
Abstract:Objective: To observe the effect of purified Xuefu Capsule (PXC) on endothelin (ET) and nitric oxide synthetase (NOS) gene expression and proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) in atherosclerotic rabbits. Methods: Molecular biological techniques of dot blot and in situ hybridization were adopted. Results: The expression of ET mRNA in atherosclerosis (AS), plaques of the model group was higher, with the positive signals distributed mainly in arterial intimal AS plaques; while at the same time the expression in the PXC treated group was lower, with only few scattering signals found in arterial intimal AS plaques. NOS mRNA expression was less in the vascular wall of the AS model group, PXC could enhance NOS mRNA expression, positive signals could be found from intima to media. Conclusion: The effect of PXC on preventing and treating AS might be related to regulating the expression of ET mRNA and NOS mRNA in the vascular wall.
Abstract:Objective: To investigate the effects of Reduqing (RDQ,
) on plasma interleukin-8 (IL-8), NO2
- /NO3
-, complement 5a (C5a) and polymorphonuclear neutrophilic leukocyte (PMN) chemotaxis Index (CI) in rabbits with endotoxin-induced disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC).Methods: Endotoxin-in-duced DIC model made by injection of Lipopolysacchrides (LPS) was used in the experiment. Above-mentioned indexes were determined before and after RDQ treatment and compared with blank and dexamethasone treated group. Results: Plasma IL-8, NO2
- /NO3
-, C5a and CI level of PMN increased markedly in the model group, which were confirmed pathologically with obvious damage of tissues or organs. In the RDQ group, the abovem entiond parameters and damage of tissues or organs were reduced significantly (P < 0.01).Conclusion: IL-8 and NO might be involved in pathogenesis of endotoxin-induced DIC, and RDQ could be used in preventing or treating DIC through the mechanism of regulation of cytokines network.
