Chinese herbal medicine for lung cancer — A critical literature review (continued)
摘要
In conclusion
from the evidence gathered
it may be appropriate to suggest that CHMs may have efficacy for the treatment of patients with LC
and combination of CHMs with chemotherapy or radiotherapy may be additive or synergistic in controlling LC. In addition
CHMs may reduce some adverse effects associated with chemotherapy or radiotherapy. Moreover
CHMs may be beneficial for improving quality of life and prolonging survival time of patients with LC. However
we are cautious because of methodological flaws in the majority of the clinical studies reviewed. It is difficult to draw conclusions with regard to efficacy of CHMs. The mechanisms of actions of CHMs for LC largely remain unknown. Thus
more rigorous studies that address weaknesses identified are required for further evaluation of efficacy and safety of different Chinese herbs and formulae in the management of LC.
